Amidst a crowd of screaming fans, L.A. radio DJs, and a slew of photographers and journalists, Mario Lopez took to the stage at a Hollywood nightclub this past Monday to formally introduce, quite possibly, the sexiest tour of the summer—Jennifer Lopez, Enrique Iglesias, and Wisin y Yandel. The tour, which features three of the world’s biggest acts with combined album sales of 125 million, kicks off July 14th in Montreal and hits 20 cities nationwide. All but Wisin, who was sick, settled into red leather seats for a tour tell-all.
“We’re out there to give you our hits, our heart and soul,” said Lopez, who rocked a mostly peach tri-colored Lanvin dress with a Swarovski crystal-dipped snake attached. “It’s going to be high energy. We have a lot of dance music, heartfelt music. It’s going to be the most historic tour ever. No one’s done anything like this. Latinos have come together like a family and it’s groundbreaking. I’m honored to be a part of this.”
As for how much creative freedom the artists have on tour, J. Lo didn’t waste time to answer.
“A lot,” said the superstar, who enlisted her boo Casper Smart to choreograph, along with Jamie King, Paris Goebel, Liz Imperio, and Nappytabs. “I have a lot of wonderful people working with me, but have all the creative control to make it what I think my fans want—the dances they want to see—and take it to another level. This is the first time I’ll be on a world tour. My fans have been waiting a long time. I want them to be completely satisfied that they got their money’s worth.”
Iglesias remained his usual soft-spoken self, allowing Lopez to do most of the talking, but did say the tour would include collaborative hits like J. Lo and WYY’s “Follow the Leader,” and admitted to having jitters for an upcoming concert in Spain.
“I haven’t been there in 12 years, so I’m very nervous,” Iglesias said. “That’s my hometown. That’s where I was born.”
Smart, meanwhile, snuck backstage at the tail end of the press conference, leaving the room full of reporters curious as to what his next moves are on and off the stage.
Will you be seeing the tour?
