Gaby Moreno has been growing in the music scene for a couple of years and thanks to her new recording contract with Metamorfosis, the record label of hit artist Ricardo Arjona, she might just be the next big thing in Latin music.
Originally from Guatemala, the singer/songwriter started her recording career back in 2008 with the independent release of Still the Unknown. When that album was released in Europe by a record company in 2011, the buzz around her started to grow. Her latest album, Illustrated Songs, got a lot of attention but it was her duet with Ricardo Arjona in his single "Fuiste Tú" that introduced her to a much wider audience.
Moreno's style is soulful pop with a bluesy sound that is still somewhat unique in Latin music. She counts Aretha Franklin, Ella Fitzgerald and Nina Simone as some of her idols and musical influences, and it shows in her music. Her bilingual songs give her crossover appeal and her talent shines through in the lyrics and beautiful guitar-playing.
We can't wait to hear what's next from Moreno, especially if it means another record with Arjona. Take a listen to their first collaboration and hear them make beautiful music together.
