Gloria Estefan Announces Her Retirement
Legendary Cuban songstress Gloria Estefan announced Monday that her upcoming tour of Latin America will mark her final string of performances, as she shifts gears towards family and non-music related projects.
The chart-topping artist broke the news at a press conference to promote the tour, which kicks off April 9 in Uruguay: "These will be the last concerts I do, after I want to focus on my daughter, who is going to high school and continue working in other areas," said Estefan.
For those concerned about how the Miami sound machinista will survive without music, fear not: The singer says, "We have eight restaurants, three hotels; I am working on a third book and on films." That's right; a recession can't hold Gloria down!
Will you miss Gloria Estefan when she retires from music?

Gloria Estefan, in my opinion - "The Queen of latin pop music, she became the most successful executive singer in the history of latin music. After all, it sold nearly 45 million copies of their records, including my favorite album Gloria Estefan - 90 Millas .

Our precious Gloria Estefan retiring? Oh no!!! Will we miss her? My Lord, yes!!!
She has been such an awesome inspiration to so many latinas and latinos . . . and everyone else worldwide .... especially those of us of her generation! But, her desire to relish the final formative years of her daughter is demonstrative of the latina mother's heart, and I remain so very proud of her for that! She must certainly grace us with her appearances in other roles from time to time .... God willing! Gloria, cuidate amorsito lindo, y que el Senor de bendiga! Thank you so much for "your presence in my life!"
