Five 2010 Matches Made in Music Heaven

We love it when our favorite musicians join forces to collaborate on a song. We imagine them jamming together in a studio and building on each other’s talents until something magical comes out. And while most of the following musical partnerships may not have happened quite like that, we were still blown away by the results.

Enrique Iglesias featuring Juan Luis Guerra, “Cuando Me Enamoro”

Dominican balladeer Juan Luis Guerra added a bachata touch to this romantic song composed by Spaniard Enrique Iglesias. It’s sweet without being syrupy, reminding us of the butterflies we experience with a new love.

Bruno Mars featuring B.o.B., “Nothin’ on You”

Rapper B.o.B. delivers a smooth song about looking for Mrs. Right. The track feels especially laidback with Puerto Rican–Filipino cutie Bruno Mars in charge of the super-catchy hook.

Shakira featuring Residente of Calle 13, “Mi Gordita”

The Colombian pop star definitely loosens up on this cumbia-tingued track. Credit Calle 13 bad boy Residente, who raps “Shaki, tu estás bien bonita/ aunque también me gustabas/ cuando estabas más gordita/ con el pelito negrito y la cara redondita.” We couldn’t agree more.

Enrique Iglesias featuring Pitbull, “I Like It”

These two Miami boys deliver a club-ready song that’s just pure fun. We especially like the sample from Lionel Richie’s “All Night Long.” The whole track instantly transports us to South Beach.

Marc Anthony featuring Jose Luis Perales

Only Marc Anthony could take a classic like José Luis Perales 1982 hit “Y Como Es El” and breath new life into it. The Puerto Rican crooner’s voice shines in this interpretation, which starts out slowly and builds to emphasize the emotion-laced lyrics.
