Gloria season has begun! More details have surfaced about the original crossover queen’s highly anticipated new album, Miss Little Havana, including the amazing cover art by Miami artist David “LEBO” Le Batard (a fellow Cuban American)!
Just in time for Hispanic Heritage Month, La Reina—who is on this month's historic 15th anniversary cover of Latina!— is gifting us her first English album since 2003. A collaboration with superstar producer Pharrell Williams, it signals Gloria’s return to dance music.
Starting September 27, Target will be the exclusive carrier of the physical album—a deluxe edition with four bonus tracks produced by hubby Emilio Estefan, including “On,” (which features their 16-year-old daughter Emily on the guitar); “Medicine,” (our personal favorite); Gloria’s version of the 1999 Jennifer Lopez hit “Let’s Get Loud” (which was actually a song Gloria gave to Lopez for her debut album, On The 6); and a “Wepa” remix featuring Pitbull. The Target album will also have downloadable content, including the 25th anniversary remix of that little song that changed it all—“Conga.” iTunes will carry the digital version of the album.
Glorita stopped by Chelsea Lately last night for her first TV appearance in support of the album and cracked us up with stories about her early days as an interpreter at the Miami International Airport. “I saw some weird things,” she said, alluding to cocaine, nuns, suitcases full of cash, and salami!
