EXCLUSIVE: Behind the Scenes of Pitbull & Jencarlos Canela's Music Video "Tu Cuerpo"

Bet you didn’t know the man behind most of Pitbull's music videos is David Rousseau. This Miami-based Cubano, born in Caracas, Venezuela and raised in Little Havana, is the brainchild behind “I Know You Want Me/Calle 8,” a music video that garnered over 150 million (!) hits on You Tube.

So how did Rousseau hook up with Mr. Worldwide (formerly Mr. 305) himself? “In Miami, there’s like 6 degrees of Pitbull,” he explains with a laugh. “Somebody’s either gone to high school with Pitbull, gone out with Pitbull, had kids with Pitbull…no. I’m just kidding!” Pitbull may have put him on, but Rousseau has worked with a ton of other major music players, including Lil Jon, Akon, Fat Joe, T-Pain, LMFAO, and Jadakiss.

“A lot of people feel that because you’re Latino you can only shoot a certain type of video…like a reggaeton video or a merengue video or whatever,” Rousseau says of his success in the competitive music video industry, where many other Latinos have failed. “I think people are still far behind in figuring out that Latinos come in all shapes, sizes, forms, backgrounds.” We agree David!

Check out the exclusive behind-the-scenes video he sent us for Pitbull and Jencarlos Canela’s new music video for their single “Tu Cuerpo,” and be sure to catch the video premiere tomorrow February 22.

Mariela Rosario,

I'm a raging opinionista and I love to share my ramblings on everything from pop culture to food to stuff that makes me laugh & cry! I've worked in all types of media (TV, film, print) and was previously the online editor at Latina magazine before joining Mamás Latinas. On most nights you can find me working my way through my library of cookbooks or playing with my puppy Lola (my only child so far). I have a wonderful hubby who shares my passion for any and all kinds of travel. Together, we've formed a semi-professional wine drinking team.
