Don Omar has a bunch of projects up his sleeve, and the reggaeton artist is moving to Hollywood to focus on them. People en Español reports that the 33-year-old Puerto Rican, who starred in this year’s action-packed Fast Five (the fifth movie in the Fast & Furious franchise), has several movies in the works.
“I have a contract with Universal for ten films,” Don Omar told the Spanish language news agency EFE. “I already did three: Fast & Furious, Fast Five and Los Bandoleros. I have three left in 2012, another three in 2013, and one in 2014.” The artist’s love for cars may be the reason for his plans to do a project with the sports cable network ESPN. The project, according to People en Español, will be a program dealing with automobile careers.
If Don Omar’s plate didn’t seem full enough, he is also working on a Spanish-language Broadway musical and will be a spokesperson for a campaign that encourages youth to wear contraception to prevent sexually transmitted diseases. “Our music is erotic. It incites sensuality,” he said. “I have two sons and a daughter – who are the light of my eyes – and I would like them to be able to see their father doing something for the future of our youth, which is also theirs.”
Fans of El Rey’s music need not worry that he’s drawing away from reggaeton. According to Tr3s, Don Omar will be touring Asia, Africa, and South America in the next several months.
