Demi Lovato’s first new single since coming out of rehab dropped today! The song, called "Skyscraper", is about overcoming obstacles.
“The song is so special to me because it’s inspired by my journey and the struggles that I’ve dealt with this past year,” wrote the 18-year-old former Disney star in her Seventeen.com blog. The teen star was the center of media buzz this year after she was admitted to a rehabilitation center last November for physical and emotional issues. The song is from Lovato’s next studio album, which is set for release this fall.
Lovato, who was the star of Disney hit show Sonny with a Chance before leaving in April, said she is still on a personal journey dealing with her issues each day. The best advice Lovato said she would give to anyone going through a rough patch is to “never be afraid to ask for help.”
In addition to the song’s release today, the video for ‘Skyscraper’ will premiere tomorrow on E! News. The actress will also sit down with Ryan Seacrest to discuss the video, which was directed by Mark Pellington. “My biggest wish for this song is that it’s able to inspire others and urge them to keep moving forward no matter what the odds,” Lovato wrote.
