Daddy Yankee is having a busy 2010. Not only did his new album, Mundial (Sony), drop today, but he just signed on to play a boxer in the film Pleasant Ave, which begins shooting in Puerto Rico at the end of the year.
The reggaetonero will get a chance to fine-tune his acting (and singing) skills on the CBS soap opera The Bold and the Beautiful from June 1–7, during which he’ll perform songs from the new record, including “Grito Mundial” and “Que Es La Que Hay.”
According to the show’s executive producer Bradley P. Bell, “The story takes place during a raucous party full of young people who are ready to take a break from the scholarly pursuits of high school. We conceived it as a modern urban take on a masquerade ball . . . Daddy Yankee’s hypnotic thump is the perfect intoxicating elixir to entice some of the characters into doing things they might not ordinarily do.”
That’s the effect his 2004 anthem “Gasolina” used to have on me so this being daytime TV, anything can happen.
