According to Residente, the lyrics of "Multi_Viral" are representative of "universal discomfort." He said, "It speaks about courage, about what lights the wick, and it manages to cause a chemical distress in your body."

Assange and Residente released a Q&A on the WikiLeaks channel, discussing the content of the song and the social issues that inspired the lyrics -- including the NSA spying scandal.

"For sure the first people to have our song were the NSA," Residente told The Miami Herald, "Maybe they liked it and that's why I'm still alive."
