Bruno Mars Racks Up 7 Grammy Nominations

The Grammy Nominations Concert in downtown Los Angeles last night kicked off the countdown to the 53rd Annual Grammy Awards. Hosted by LL Cool J, the star-studded precursor to the big event included performances by Katy Perry, Train, Justin Bieber and other chart-toppers.
Among the celebrity presenters was a smoky-eyed Selena Gomez, who wore a strapless black dress to announce the nominees for Song of the Year; including Eminem’s “Love the Way You Lie (featuring Rihanna),” Lady Antebellum’s “Need You Now,” Miranda Lambert’s “The House That Built Me,” Ray LaMontagne’s “Beg Steal Or Borrow” and Cee Lo’s “F**k You," written by Cee Lo, Philip Lawrence and Bruno Mars.
The half Puerto Rican Mars was all over the show—and that’s a good thing! He let his afro loose to sing a stripped-down version of “Just the Way You Are” from his debut album Doo-Wops & Hooligans, and joined BoB on stage later to perform “Nothin’ On You.”
All in all, he received seven (!) nominations for his work, including Best Male Pop Performance for "Just the Way You Are" and Record of the Year for his work with BoB (featuring Mars) and Cee Lo Green. Surprisingly, he didn’t get nominated for Best New Artist. That honor went to Justin Bieber, Drake, Florence and the Machine, Mumford and Sons and up-and-coming Latina singer/songwriter Esperanza Spaulding. But we know we'll be seeing plenty more of the talented Mars to come in the future.
The Grammys will air at 8 p.m. on Sunday, February 13 on CBS. Check out grammy.com for a full list of nominees.
