America Ferrera, Carlos Mencia and Forrest Whitaker to Co-Star in New Comedy

Fox Searchlight has given the green light to a new comedy about two very different families coming together to plan a wedding in just a few short weeks.

The movie is set to star Forrest Whitaker and Carlos Mencia as the fathers of the groom and bride respectively. America Ferrera will play Mencia's daughter in the as-yet-unnamed family film. It's being described as a film about the clash-of-cultures between two clans who's fathers must learn to set aside their differences for the sake of their children.

Adult film star Sasha Grey stars in The Girlfriend Experience, a new film by Steven Soderbergh that recently premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival. The title refers to, among other things, a special type of service currently offered by many escorts, which aims not not only to provide traditional sexual fare, but also the sense of intimacy and closeness normally provided by a girlfriend.

Video: Actress Yasmin Deliz Brings the Laughs in “Next Day Air”

The film Next Day Air, directed by Benny Boom and starring Donald Faison, Cisco Reyes and Mos Def, is a clever action comedy about an unmotivated courier (Faison) who delivers the wrong package to two inadequate criminals (Wood Harris and Mike Epps), who subsequently try to sell the 10 kilos of high-quality cocaine found in said package. That is, until the rightful owners of the product show up looking for their stash. Of course, lots of hilarity and well crafted insanity ensues in between.

Christina Aguilera Lands Her First Acting Gig

Christina Aguilera has landed a part in a new musical being developed for Screen Gems. Entitled Burlesque, the film will be directed by Steve Antin and will feature Aguilera in the starring role. 

The pint-sized songstress will play a smalltown girl with a big-time voice who travels to Los Angeles to chase her dreams and in the process finds family and fame in a new-burlesque club, staged to look like a scene out of Bob Fosse's Cabaret

"Rudo y Cursi" Sneak Peek

In this haunting documentary, director Rebecca Cammisa chronicles the harrowing journey that immigrants headed to the United States must make through Mexico on the freight trains that transport commercial goods from south to north. Almost 5% of the people who brave the passage north are children, with nearly 100 thousand minors a year attempting the journey alone. And many don't make it.

America Ferrera Set to Star in New Film “The Dry Land”

America Ferrera has signed on to star and executive produce a new film from Maya pictures entitled The Dry Land. Ferrera is set to star alongside Ryan O’Nan, Wilmer Valderrama, Jason Ritter and Melissa Leo of Frozen River fame, who was nominated for a Best Actress Academy Award last year. The film will tell the story of a young GI who has just returned from the war in Iraq and finds it more difficult than he imagined to readjust.
