Colombian actress Sofia Vergara will be joining Robert Rodriguez’s film Machete Kills, the sequel to Machete, reports Variety. The Modern Family star is in final talks to play the character Madame Desdemona. Her Mexican, ahem, ladies and clients will apparently hold information that Machete needs. (Quite the departure from the hilarious Gloria!)

MTV Tr3s is announcing the 2012 MTV Movie Awards “Best Latino Actor” nominees today, and the picks come as little surprise. Zoe Saldana, Diego Luna, Demian Bilchir, Penelope Cruz and Harmony Santana are all up for the award, which will be given during the Tr3s Spanish transmission of the awards on June 9th at 9 pm (EST). The live broadcast of the awards will be on June 3rd at 9 pm (EST).

The 2012 Tribeca Film Festival honored its top picks from its long roster of new movies during an award ceremony last night. The Cuban film, Una Noche, proved to be a favorite among the judges. It won in three categories including, “Best Cinematography,” and “Best New Narrative Director”. Directed by Lucy Mulloy, she will receive upwards of $100,000 for post-production costs.

Think Like a Man knocked The Hunger Games off the number one spot at the box office this weekend, where it was sitting pretty four weeks in a row. Based on Steve Harvey's best-selling book, Act Like a Lady, Think Like a Man, the film features an ensemble cast including La La Vazquez Anthony, Taraji P. Henson, Michael Ealy, Kevin Hart, and several others.

The NYC Tribeca Film Festival kicks off its 11th year tonight. The revered festival, co-founded by Robert De Niro, will run from through April 29. Latina favorite Rosario Dawson will serve as judge in the TAA Creative Promise Award—Narrative category along with Cuba Gooding, Jr., Mekhi Phifer and Gabourey Sidibe.

It's Friday the 13th and The Cabin in the Woods is out this weekend! Co-written by Drew Goddard (who also directed) and Joss Whedon (who also produced), they're taking full advantage of this freaky Friday to get people to see the horror film. The movie centers on five college students who take a trip to a cabin for the weekend and soon realize it's not going to be the fun, relaxing weekend they had in mind.

We don't know about you, but we love seeing Salma Hayek playing strong women. She often has a seductive edge and she knows how to take charge. In the new movie Savages, we get to see her play the villain -- a role we think we'll enjoy even more than usual! With pin-straight hair and severe bangs, she looks like she's begging somebody to piss her off, just so she can lash out at them.
