Zoe Saldana won the golden popcorn for "Best Latino Actor" by Tr3s in honor of the MTV Movie Awards last night for her kick-ass role in the hit film, Colombiana. Co-written by French film director, Luc Besson, and directed by, Olivier Megaton, Zoe played a woman seeking revenge after she tragically witnesses her parents get murdered.

The 65th edition of the Cannes Film Festival wrapped on Sunday with one of the strongest line-ups of Latin American films in recent memory. Mexico brought the party to Cannes – literally – with cases of the ancient spirit Mezcal getting seized by authorities at a glitzy party thrown by director Carlos Reygadas. Ansiedad (Cierra Ramirez) jumpstarts her own coming of age by modeling her life after teen movies and coming-of-age stories in an attempt to skip ahead to adulthood. The results make for a funny, heartbreaking and ultimately uplifting movie with some poignant moments.

Colombian actress Sofia Vergara will be joining Robert Rodriguez’s film Machete Kills, the sequel to Machete, reports Variety. The Modern Family star is in final talks to play the character Madame Desdemona. Her Mexican, ahem, ladies and clients will apparently hold information that Machete needs. (Quite the departure from the hilarious Gloria!)
