Fernanda Andrade, the Brazilian star of the new horror film The Devil Inside can celebrate her film’s record-breaking opening weekend box office revenue at $34.5 million! The film was made for only $1 million, which makes this film the biggest opening of all time during early January, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
In the film, based on a true story, Andrade plays an Italian on a mission to find out what happened to her mother. Her character ends up encountering exorcisms on the way.
She said in an interview with The Huffington Post that her mother protected her from being exposed to horror films. “She didn’t like us watching scary movies, so it was one of those things that I didn’t really know about until I got involved in this movie,” Andrade said.
When asked if she believes in exorcisms, she said, “I think it's undeniable that every religion that exists has some sort of exorcism in it, and the more I read about it -- I don't know that I have an answer, but I really feel like it's whatever you think it is; it's kind of a testament to the human psyche, really.”
The Devil Inside is in theaters now!
