What to Watch Over Thanksgiving Weekend

Thanksgiving weekend is upon us, which means we have a bit more time to sit back and relax in front of the big screen. Luckily for you, we rounded up several movies starring Latinos for this week’s What to Watch.

From dancing, outspoken penguins to actors in complete silence, we’ve got you covered.

Check out our Thanksgiving movie picks below - and happy holidays!

1. Thanksgiving What to Watch: Happy Feet Two

Happy Feet Two

We’re reunited with Mumble (voiced by Elijah Wood), Gloria (voiced by pop singer Pink) and their friends as they face new dangers that threaten their penguin nation in Happy Feet Two. Best of all, viewers will notice a very familiar voice behind one of its adorable characters. Colombian actress Sofia Vergara lent her voice in the musical film, in which she plays the novia of Robin Williams’ character.

2. Thanksgiving What to Watch: The Muppets

The Muppets

Our favorite colorful puppets flood movie theatres today in The Muppets. In the musical comedy film directed by James Bobin, the whole gang bands together to save their old theater from an oil tycoon. The Muppets stars our favorite kid from Modern Family; 13-year-old Rico Rodriguez.

3. Thanksgiving What to Watch: The Artist

The Artist

Directed by French filmmaker Michel Hazanavicius, The Artist centers on George Valentin (Jean Dujardin), a Hollywood star who frets over the day when talkies will replace silent films – which could end his career. The romance film also stars Argentinean actress Bérénice Bejo, who plays a young dancer and Valentin’s love interest. The Artist has ushered in Oscar buzz around Bejo; we look forward to seeing how that pans out.

4. Thanksgiving What to Watch: Harold & Kumar

A Very Harold & Kumar Christmas

Harold (John Cho) and Kumar (Kal Penn) are back for another adventure in time for the holidays. The stoner comedy stars Colombian actress Paula Garces as Harold’s wife, Maria Quesadilla. The married couple visits Quesadilla’s family, including her very intimidating father, played by Mexican American actor Danny Trejo. Of course, the trip wouldn’t be fun without inviting Kumar, who accidentally burns down the Christmas tree belonging to Trejo’s character. And so the adventure begins as the best buds frantically try to replace it on a time crunch.
