We’re stoked to finally see the trailer for the new WWI drama Red Tails! The film, which stars Dominican 90210 actor Tristan Wilds, is set in 1994 and centers on the Tuskegee Airmen, the first African-American pilots to fly in a combat squad during World War II.
The men in the experimental Tuskegee training program were subject to racism both inside and outside the military and in Red Tails, are given the opportunity to prove their courage during the war. In the film, Wilds plays the youngest pilot among the Airmen. “I play the youngest brother to everybody, just trying to fight for my name,” he said in a July interview with Clevver TV.
The tagline of Red Tails says it all: “This January comes the incredible story of the men who changed the war by changing history.”
The film was directed by Anthony Hemingway and in addition to Wilds, stars Cuba Gooding Jr., Terrence Howard, and R&B crooner Ne-Yo, to name a few. According to Deadline, Red Tails hits theaters on Jan. 20, 2012.
