VIDEO: Trailer for "Precious: Based on the Novel 'Push' by Sapphire"

This one is definitely going to be tearjerker! In the trailer for the film Precious: Based on the Novel "Push" by Sapphire, we get a glimpse at the perfomances that had everyone buzzing at last year's Sundance Film Festival.

The film tells the tale of Claireece "Precious" Jones (Gabourey Sidibe), who is born into dire circumstances in late 1980s Harlem. As she struggles to rise above her lot in life, she gets help along the way from a social worker, played by Mariah Carey, and a dedicated literacy teacher, played by Paula Patton. But it is Mo'Nique and Gabourey's performances that steal the show.

Mariela Rosario,

I'm a raging opinionista and I love to share my ramblings on everything from pop culture to food to stuff that makes me laugh & cry! I've worked in all types of media (TV, film, print) and was previously the online editor at Latina magazine before joining Mamás Latinas. On most nights you can find me working my way through my library of cookbooks or playing with my puppy Lola (my only child so far). I have a wonderful hubby who shares my passion for any and all kinds of travel. Together, we've formed a semi-professional wine drinking team.
