Penélope Cruz was left alone to bask in the glow of the overwhelmingly positive reception of her film Vicky Cristina Barcelona at the Cannes Film Festival this past weekend, since her costars Scarlett Johannsen and Javier Bardem didn't make it to the red carpet affair. Javi had a personal family matter to attend to, but ScarJo opted out of a Cannes appearance because of a dispute with VCB producers over her accommodations.
In true diva mode, Scarlett demanded a suite at a hotel nearly an hour away from Cannes' main croisette, where her costars are staying. According to the Daily Mail, Scarlett also refused to share a makeup artist with Penélope, demanding on her a private make-up consultant at nearly $10,000 per day. When the studio refused, the buxom blonde decided to stay put in America.
Unfortunately for Scarlett, "nobody cared she wasn't there", snapped a prominent New York socialite. "The movie belonged to Penélope and [costar Rebecca Hall] anyway with great help from Javier," she added.
Oooh, snap! We think Scarlett should get off her high horse and join her costars on the red carpet, lest they steal the spotlight right away from her!
