The poster for Pedro Almodóvar’s highly anticipated new film, The Skin That I Inhabit has been released, and the flowery image is just as haunting (if not creepier) than the plot for the upcoming horror film.
The Skin That I Inhabit (or La Piel Que Habito) is a revenge thriller that stars Antonio Banderas as a plastic surgeon on the hunt for the men who raped his daughter. The sure-to-be-creepy film, which Almodovar calls "a horror story without screams or shocks,” is loosely based on Thierry Jonquet’s 1995 novel, “Mygale.”
"It's the harshest film I've ever written," Almodóvar told the Spanish newspaper, El Pais. "And Banderas's character is brutal."
This isn’t Banderas' first time working with Almodovar. In fact, the Spanish actor has appeared in five of the Oscar-winning Spanish director's films, including Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown.
Almodóvar said it was great getting to work with Antonio again. "He's exactly the same as when he left," he said. "From the minute he walked in, it was as if we had just finished Tie Me Up the night before!"
