Penelope Cruz Wins Best Supporting Actress

Penelope Cruz is well on her way to winning that Oscar! The Spanish actress was recognized by the National Board of Review of Motion Pictures as this year's Best Supporting Actress for her riveting performance in Vicky Cristina Barcelona, just days after being nominated for the same honor by the Independent Spirit Awards. But the National Board of Review is a particularly reliable measure of who will win at the Academy Awards come February, and the nonprofit arts group's other picks have been steadily building Oscar buzz as well: Anne Hathaway for Best Actress in Rachel Getting Married, Josh Brolin for Best Supporting Actor in Milk, Clint Eastwood for Best Actor in Gran Torino and Slumdog Millionaire for Best Film. Very promising, indeed!

It's been a great week for Pé, who also received a special tribute on Tuesday evening at the Gotham Independent Film Awards and scored a win for Best Ensemble Performance along with her VCB co-stars Javier Bardem and Scarlett Johanssen. And let's not forget the effortlessly stylish outfit she rocked at the Mistletoe installation launch in NYC. Ah, it must be nice to be so fabulous.
