Oliver Stone Makes Chavez Documentary

Straight off the heels of his George Bush biopic, W, director Oliver Stone shocked no one when he announced plans to release a documentary about Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez. Variety reports Stone has been working on the film for six months and is aiming for an ’09 release. Stone told Variety that the doc will focus on “Chavez and the South American revolution.” It will also highlight the resistance the controversial leader has faced at home and abroad. Stone’s previous films include Comandante, about Cuban President Fidel Castro and Persona Non Grata, about the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.
