Fruitvale Station hits theaters this Friday, but has already made a splash at Sundance and Cannes, winning awards for the Audience Award for U.S. dramatic film and Best Film, respectively. The film chronicles the story of Oscar Grant (played by Michael B. Jordan), a young man shot by a police officer at the Oakland, California Fruitvale Bay Area Rapid Transit Station.
In the film, Melonie Diaz plays Sophina, the girlfriend of Oscar. We caught up with the star to talk about the film, her part and why she was drawn to this project. Watch the video below and make sure to catch Fruitvale Station in theaters July 12!:
