Sandra Bullock (last year's Oscar winner for Best Actress) presented the award for Best Actor at tonight's Academy Awards. And even though we were hoping she would say the words "Javier Bardem," Bullock called out the predicted frontrunner instead: Colin Firth, who played King George VI of Britain in The King's Speech.

Bardem's nomination for Biutiful represents the first time in Academy Award history that an actor has been nominated for a Spanish-language role. It is also the third Oscar nomination for Bardem, who was previously nominated in the Best Actor category for his portrayal of Cuban poet/novelist Reinaldo Arenas in Julian Schnabel's Before Night Falls (2001), and won a Best Supporting Actor statue in 2008 for his menacing portrayal of a vicious killer with a pageboy haircut in the Coen BrothersNo Country For Old Men.
