And Salma Hayek is going to costar! While we're disappointed that the part of Pancho Villa isn't being given to any number of talented Latino actors who would kill the role if given the chance, we'd be livid if we didn't love Johnny Depp so much! And given the fact that he's just wrapped filming on The Rum Diaries in Puerto Rico and spends a ton of time in the Caribbean, he's practically Latino anyway, right?
The film, Seven Friends of Pancho Villa and the Woman with Six Fingers, will start shooting in late 2010 or early 2011 and will be scheduled to work around Depp's prior commitments. Serbian director Emir Kusturica will helm the project and is the man responsible for Depp's casting. “Johnny and I have been friends for a long time. When I showed him the script written by Gordan Mihic, Johnny said he wanted the role without even reading it,” Emir told blic.com.
This movie seems destined for greatness. Even if Depp's hectic schedule causes him to drop out, we're sure Emir's film will be just fine. His backup plan? Recent Oscar winner Javier Bardem. This just may be the best movie ever made! Okay, clearly, we're a little bit excited over here...
