Dead men tell no tales — except, apparently, Javier Bardem.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Spanish actor is in talks to play the villain, a ghost pirate, in the forthcoming Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales

If cast, Bardem will join Johnny Depp and Geoffrey Rush, who will be reprising their roles as Captain Jack Sparrow and Captain Hector Barbossa in the fifth installment of the fantasy series.

The movie, due out in July 2017, follows a spirit captain who blames Sparrow for the death of his brother. The ghost begins a search for a supernatural object to aid him in his quest for revenge against the quirky pirate.

Bardem, an Academy Award winning actor, has previously taken on villainous roles in No Country For Old Men and Skyfall.

His family also has strong ties to the Pirates franchise, as his wife, Penelope Cruz, starred in 2011's Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides.
