Javier Bardem to Costar with Julia Roberts in the Adaptation of "Eat, Pray, Love"

Variety reports that the super-sexy Spaniard Javier Bardem is in negotiations to star alongside megastar Julia Roberts in the screen adaptation of No. 1 New York Times Best Seller Eat, Pray, Love.

In case you are one of the few people who haven’t read it, Elizabeth Gilbert’s memoir follows the 34-year-old journalist and novelist (played by Roberts) on a therapeutic yearlong trip around the world. Gilbert decided to travel to Italy, India and Indonesia to indulge all the different parts of her personality after an ugly divorce and a deep depression that resulted from the split. Bardem will play Felipe, the Brazilian man Gilbert falls in love with on the last stop of her trip.

The film will also feature Academy Award nominee Richard Jenkins as a Texan cowboy Gilbert meets in an ashram in India. Ryan Murphy, the Nip/Tuck creator whose last film was 2006's Running with Scissors, will direct. Brad Pitt and Dede Gardner will produce the film through Pitt’s Plan B production company.
