A 7-year-old had the best line in any movie all year — and she's Latina!
Last night at the MTV Movie Awards, Mexican American actress Alexys Nycole Sanchez—who played the character Becky Feder (Salma Hayek's daughter) in the movie Grown Ups—beat out stiff competition and took home the award for Best Line From a Movie.
Fellow Latina Cameron Diaz presented Sanchez with the popcorn trophy. The Cuban actress watched in awe as Sanchez gave a tender and funny speech. "This is so cool!" gushed Sanchez, bringing smiles to the faces of an audience full of grown ups. Sanchez was eloquent as she continued her speech. "First of all I want to thank my friends, my family, and my fans for voting for me, and I want to thank Debbie, my manager, for doing all of the hard work she has done," she said.
"And most of all, I want to thank God for giving me all of the blessings he has [given] me, and I want to thank all of the people from Grown Ups. You're so fun." Sanchez then delivered the line that won her the award: "I want to get chocolate wasted!"
With a speech like that, it's clear that Alexys, who told Latina.com that she is "very thankful for everything," is just as great on-screen as off. We're betting this isn't the last time we'll see Sanchez receiving an MTV Award. Alexys, who turns 8 later this month, is making the big move to Los Angeles with her family so she'll have more opportunities to audition. She's definitely one to watch!
