EXCLUSIVE: Mia Maestro Brings Spanish Music to 'Twilight'

In the highly anticipated Twilight film, The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn—Part 1, Argentinean actress Mia Maestro plays Carmen Denali, Edward Cullen’s (Rob Pattinson) vegetarian cousin. But Maestro says meeting the sexy R-Patz wasn’t the best thing about starring in the film, which hits theaters Nov. 18th. "The most exciting thing about being part of Breaking Dawn for me is that I have a song on the soundtrack!” the 33-year-old Maestro tells Latina.com exclusively. “The {Twilight} soundtrack comes out today and it’s nice to know that millions of people who are going to go see this film are going to hear my song...It’s quite exciting!"

The song (which Maestro wrote and performed for the movie) is called “Llovera” (“It Will Rain”) and Maestro says it will represent a first for Twilight fans. “It’s the only Spanish song that has ever been in any of the Twilight films,” she says.

But how exactly did Maestro manage to get one of her songs into one of the most popular movie franchises of all-time? “I was working on my album while I was shooting the movie,” she explains. “Everyone was aware that I was finishing my record and Bill Condon {the director} wanted to hear it. He did and he really loved it and he said he was going to see if there was any part in the film where he could find placement for it.”

Luckily for Maestro, he did. "He actually found a beautiful moment in the film—I can’t say which one, but I hope people will love it."
