Eva Mendes and Matthew McConaughey in Talks to Head "Southbound"
Eva Mendes and Matthew McConaughey are currently in negotiations to costar in a new indie drama directed by Jonathan Jakubowicz of Secuestro Express fame.
The film, titled Southbound, revolves around the story of a police officer (McConaughey) who accepts a bribe from a mysterious and gorgeous Mexican woman (Mendes) and unwittingly finds himself in the middle of an ongoing war between Mexican crime families and immigration police.Â
The film will give McConaughey a chance to return to a dramatic role since the critical and box-office flop Ghosts of Girlfriends Past. Mendes recently finished filming the Werner Herzog–directed Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans and will also be appearing in Massy Tadjedin's movie Last Night. Production on Southbound is set to begin in September.
