Eva Longoria Parker is putting her money where her mouth is. Variety reports that the star will executive produce Harvest, a documentary about migrant children that is already in pre-production and slated for completion early next year.
Harvest, which is being made by nonprofit company Shine Global, will focus on young migrants who pick produce in exchange for sub-poverty wages. Shooting begins during the harvest season later this year, when an estimated half million underage workers will be at American farms.
We're thrilled to see Longoria Parker step behind the camera to help bring a crucial issue to light and not just deliver confused soundbites about immigration, poverty, illiteracy, etc. With time, she could even become a more socio-conscious version of actress-producer Salma Hayek! Can you picture it?
