Edgar Ramirez is a proud feminist. In fact, he spoke out about how feminism benefits men, too.
The Joy star got a dose of feminism while filming the movie in which he plays more of a supportive role to his wife Jennifer Lawrence.
“For me, to play a man who’s able and willing and who feels comfortable in supporting, in standing by and celebrating the strength and determination of the woman he loves and the mother of his children, was a trip for me,” he told HuffPost Live.
That revelation gave Ramirez the opportunity to gain perspective on the feminist movement and it’s true meaning.
“Feminism is nothing but equality, and actually, feminism benefits men because it liberates us and it releases us from many stigmas imposed by the macho culture on us as well,” the actor, also set to appear in the remake of Point Break, added. “So if more of us could understand that it’s nothing but equality, I think many agendas in terms of equality would have advanced quicker.”
