5 of Our Fave Latinos in Kick-Ass Superhero Films

The countdown begins until the highly-anticipated blockbuster, The Dark Knight Rises, hits theaters this Friday. We can't wait to see how the Batman saga ends! In the meantime, we are honoring our favorite Latinos in kick-ass action movie roles. Who is your favorite?

1. Superhero Movies: Nestor Carbonell

Nestor Carbonell – Gotham City’s Mayor – Dark Knight Rises

Cuban-American actor and Harvard University grad, Nestor Carbonell, is back as Gotham City’s Major Anthony Garcia for the upcoming installment of the hit Batman franchise, The Dark Knight Rises, directed by Christopher Nolan. He may be struggling to hold the city together, but we love seeing the Latino in action nonetheless.

2. Superhero Movies: Jessica Alba

Jessica Alba – Sue Storm - Fantastic Four

There’s no doubt, Jessica Alba can kick some serious butt and look amazing while doing it. The Mexican actress has never shied away from playing fierce female characters on-screen, including her role as Sue Storm in the hit Fantastic Four flick. Apparently she also found love behind the set with now-husband and film assitant, Cash Warren. This superhero has it all!

3. Superhero Movies: Zoe Saldana

Zoe Saldana - Neytiri - Avatar

The Dominican actress’ movie career catapulted after her role as the playing-no-games princess Neytiri in James Cameron’s hit blockbuster, Avatar. She exclusively told Latina during her cover story interview last year, “The year after Avatar was just emotionally overwhelming.  I was traveling all over the world, waking up in different time zones. “ She adds, “Your body gets exhausted, and by the end of the year I just collapsed.” Recovering after that seems like a real superhero feat!

4. Superhero Movies: Alexa Vega

Alexa Vega – Carmen Cortez - Spy Kids

Carmen Cortez, played by Alexa Vega, went from a bratty bed wetter to a brave fighter willing to stop villains from world domination. The best part was watching the Colombian actress grow up and mature right before our eyes!

5. Superhero Movies: Alfred Molina

Alred Molina – Doc Ock – Spiderman 2

Who can forget the Spanish actor’s tragic role as Dr. Otto Octavius (a.k.a. Doc Ock) in the hit 2004 Spiderman sequel? He made us want the power of the sun…until things went haywire!
