Christina Aguilera has landed a part in a new musical being developed for Screen Gems. Entitled Burlesque, the film will be directed by Steve Antin and will feature Aguilera in the starring role.
The pint-sized songstress will play a smalltown girl with a big-time voice who travels to Los Angeles to chase her dreams and in the process finds family and fame in a new-burlesque club, staged to look like a scene out of Bob Fosse's Cabaret.
Although Aguilera has garnered much success throughout her singing career, with four Grammys and multi-platinum album sales, this will be only her second foray into the world of movie making (she lent her voice to a very small part in Shark Tale).
"I couldn't be more excited, as this was a project written with her in mind," Screen Gems exec Clint Culpepper gushed.
