Nobody was more surprised by the success of American Pie than the cast members themselves, but somehow the movie that spawned a whole new lingo for overactive hormones (admit it, you still say MILF) has managed to stand the test of time. One viewing and you'll be ready for—err—band camp. Yeah, that's it.
National Lampoon's Animal House
Okay, okay, we know there's a lot of National Lampoon on this list, but for good reason: nobody does vulgar, raunchy and wild in quite the same way. If you're only going to watch one of these movies, Animal House should be the one. Unlike Van Wilder and Spring Break, which fall in the so-bad-they're-good category, Animal House is—wait for it—actually good. This 1978 classic will have you ready for rush week in no time flat.
Wawawewa! Okay, so even though this isn't necessarily a college movie, who can forget the infamous scene in which Borat encounters an RV full of midwestern frat boys on their way to spring break? Should be mandatory viewing of the dangers of missing too many classes.
What better way to appreciate fun in the sun than watching a bunch of high school seniors cooped up in a library for an entire Saturday, left with nothing to do but play mind games on each other?
Bueller...Bueller...Bueller...that nasal, monotonous voice would have any of us climbing out of the bathroom window, stealing our dad's car and heading to the city with our best pals. Ferris Bueller's Day Off is co-ed comedy at it's very best, and Matthew Broderick was way, way too cool for school.
The only thing that can top spring break madness is summer lovin', and no one does it better than Grease. A classic film from the era when John Travolta was still sexy (looong, looong ago) and Rizzo was the coolest chica we'd ever seen, Grease will have you searching for your next fair weather fling.
Trust us—this musical starring American Idol winner Kelly Clarkson and her #2, Justin Guarini, is pure guilty pleasure. It's spring break in Miami, two groups of friends are headed to the beach for some fun in the sun (and choreographed musical numbers). Justin and Kelly find each other in the crowd, and true love ensues—or does it? Think of From Justin to Kelly as the cinematic version of Velveeta: nutritionally worthless but oh-so-delicious.
Not all movies about school days have to be fraught with dirty jokes and raucous rounds of beer pong. The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants reminds us of one of the most important things to come out of youth: best friends. We never quite figured out what the deal was with those pants that magically fit both America Ferrara and Alexis Bledel, but we love all the ooey-gooeyness of these four pals growing apart and coming together. Have a slumber party and watch it with your BFFs.
If you're the type of person whose beach bag contains s a novel, a sensible snack and SPF 70, this movie may not be for you—or maybe, it's exactly what you need. Sexy pinup Nikki Ziering travels to three spring break hot spots to enjoy some fun in the sun in this National Lampoon comedy. From Las Vegas to Cabo San Lucas and South Padre Island, she parties like there's no tomorrow with body shots, hummer rides, hot coeds, booze cruises, tequila slides and more. We're getting drunk just thinking about it.
National Lampoon's Van Wilder
Admit it: who doesn't relate to Van Wilder's desire to hold on to the glory days of college? Too bad most of us don't possess his fierce determination—or penchant for cheesy one-liners. National Lampoon's Van Wilder is something like watching a frat party for 93 minutes. Hey, nothing wrong with that.
