Benicio del Toro, Salma Hayek, Demián Bichir & Mia Maestro Cast in Oliver Stone's 'Savages'

Twilight star Mia Maestro and Benicio Del Toro are set to star with an A-list cast in Oliver Stone’s adaptation of The Savages, based on Don Winslow’s novel.

We've Got the Scoop on Benicio del Toro's Latest Projects!

Maestro will play Del Toro’s wife in the film, which is about a couple of Laguna Beach-based pot growers who find themselves unexpectedly involved with a Mexican drug cartel. Maestro’s character is a soccer mom with a hidden gang-life past. Salma Hayek is playing the Mexican cartel queen-pin Elena, while Del Toro will bring vicious cartel enforcer Lado to life. Demián Bichir also has a significant role in The Savages as a two-timing attorney who works for Elena's cartel, reuniting him and Del Toro for the first time since Steven Soderbergh’s Che biopic.

The cast includes both up-and-coming stars and Hollywood veterans. Blake Lively will play the shared (yup, shared) girlfriend of pot growers Ben (Aaron Johnson) and Chon (Taylor Kitsch), who are forced to work with (and against) the cartel when she is kidnapped. Hollywood vets Uma Thurman and John Travolta have also signed on to the star-studded lineup. Shooting begins this summer with an anticipated release date in September 2012.
