Antonio Banderas Signs on For New Pedro Almodóvar Movie

After a 20-year long hiatus, Pedro Almodóvar is once again partnering with Antonio Banderas for a new film entitled La Piel Que Habito (The Skin I Live In). Banderas was one of Almodovar original muses, appearing in no less than five of his earliest films including Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown and Tie Me Up, Tie Me Down—the film credited with launching Banderas to international stardom.

La Piel Que Habito is based on Thierry Jonquet's 1995 novel Mygale about a well-known plastic surgeon who captures the man who viciously raped his daughter. Banderas will play the main character.

"It's the harshest film I've ever written," the famed Spanish director told El Pais. "And Banderas's character is brutal."

It seems like the two are picking up right up where they left off. "He's [Antonio Banderas] exactly the same as when he left," Almodóvar inisists, "From the minute he walked in, it was as if we had just finished Tie Me Up the night before!"
