They say you can't become what you don't see but in case this hate group wasn't aware, people don't become gay because of something they've seen on the screen.
The American Family Association, an anti-LGBTQ group, is calling for everyone to boycott Disney's new Beauty and the Beast film. Why, you ask? Because there just so happens to be a like 2.5 second scene where Gaston's right-hand man, LeFou, finds himself feeling confused and questioning his feelings for his friend. This, which director Bill Condon refers to as an "exclusively gay moment," is a first for Disney.
“LeFou is somebody who on one day wants to be Gaston and on another day wants to kiss Gaston,” Condon told UK’s Attitude magazine.
“He’s confused about what he wants. It’s somebody who’s just realizing that he has these feelings. And Josh makes something really subtle and delicious out of it. And that’s what has its payoff at the end, which I don’t want to give away. But it is a nice, exclusively gay moment in a Disney movie.”
And so this is why the American Family Association has released a statement titled "Disney Wants to Normalize Homosexuality in Its Productions. Say No to Disney's Actions," urging all to turn away from seeing this live-action remake. "The Beauty and the Beast movie is a live-action remake of Disney's 1991 animated feature," the statement read. "Parents should be warned that Disney has given the green light to a strong LGBTQ agenda in a movie that targets the 5 to 11-year-old demographic market.
If parents don't push back today and take a strong stand, Disney will continue to allow more children's movies to push the homosexual agenda."
How exactly does one "push the homosexual agenda?" This isn't a recruitment process.
To those who continue to protest these types of on-screen inclusions, hate to break it to you, but we're pretty sure your child will still be exposed to the LGBTQ community in some way or form. You believe in "biblical truth" then believe in acceptance without judgment. You can't change people from being who they are simply because you don't agree.
On that note, we're super excited to see Beauty and the Beast when it hits theaters this Friday, March 17!
