Lean on Me: How Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon Are There For Each Other During the Tough Times

When Nick Cannon and Mariah Carey secretly got married on a Bahamas beach in 2008, just about everyone went "huh?" Carey, who was then 39 and Cannon, who at 27 was 12 years Mariah's junior, had been dating for less than two months when they vowed to spend the rest of their lives together, prompting skeptics to wonder if this was yet another spontaneous, short-lived Hollywood fling. But whenever Mariah was asked whether her relationship with Nick was legit, she responded by saying that peoples' doubts are always erased when they see her and Nick together.

Before their twins Monroe and Moroccan, aka “Dem babies,” were born last year, Mariah and Nick suffered a miscarriage in 2008. “It kind of shook us both and took us into a place that was really dark and difficult,” Mariah told Access Hollywood. Nick gushed about his wife's resilience. "It was emotional for both of us and that's when I saw the strength," he said. "She handled it so well and then to get on the plane and have to spend Christmas with friends and family, it definitely brought us closer together. It strengthened our relationship so much."
