It was a winning night for pop singer Demi Lovato at the 2012 MTV Video Music Awards last night.

The 20-year-old star rocked the pre-show stage with an energetic remixed rendition of her number one hit, “Give Your Heart a Break.” Demi shined in a sparkly black mini-dress and matching leather jacket while red confetti decorated the air.

Inside of the Staple Center, Lovato beat out the competition and won “Best Video With a Message” for her emotional and uplifting track, “Skyscraper.” The song off of her hit album Unbroken, was her first single release after leaving treatment for "medical treatment for emotional and physical issues" last year.

“I can’t even tell you what it means to me. It’s so amazing that I’m actually touching one of these,” she said. Demi also revealed it was a dream come true to win, “I always watched the VMAs growing up. Now I’m holding one. This is crazy,” she stated.

Congrats Demi! Watch her VMA performance again below!
