A year or two ago you would have been hard pressed to find many people who knew who Demi Lovato and Tristan Wilds were. But the songstress and the actor have been putting in overtime the last few months and it seems as though their hard work has finally paid off. Demi nabbed the No. 2 spot while Tristan made an appearance at No. 6 on Entertainment Weekly's list of Top 10 Breakout Stars of 2008. So how did they go from unknown to everywhere in just 12 short months?

Tejana Demi Lovato found herself on the fast track to fame in 2008, costarring with the Jonas Brothers in the Disney Channel movie Camp Rock and dropping her album Don't Forget, which made an incredible debut at No. 2 on the Billboard charts. Lovato says that while music is easier for her to handle, the difficulty of acting is what makes her so passionate about it. "Music comes naturally," Demi admitted, "But acting is a mind challenge, and I have a huge passion for it." With two movies on the way, a Camp Rock sequel and Princess Protection Program (in which she costars with BFF Selena Gomez) as well as an original series planned for 2009 it looks like Demi has no where to go but up from here!

Dominicano Tristan Wilds has come a long way from his portrayal of a drug kingpin in training on the gritty streets of Baltimore Maryland in HBO's The Wire, to the champagne wishes and caviar dreams of the country's most exclusive zip code as Dixon on The CW's 90210. Wilds likes to identify with another actor who made it big by playing a "Fresh Prince of Bel Air", Will Smith. Tristan was able to meet his A-List idol while costarring in The Secret Life of Bees with Queen Latifah and Dakota Fanning, a film which Smith helped to Executive Produce. We all know how it turned out for Will Smith and we wouldn't be surprised to see Wilds following in his footsteps. Congrats!
