Demi Lovato's biological father, Patrick Lovato, has passed away. Few details are known at this time, but her older sister Dallas Lovato tweeted the message "Rest in peace daddy I love you.." The singer herself has yet to post anything or release a statement, and the cause of his death is yet unknown, reports Perez Hilton.
The 20-year-old singer's father separated from the family when Lovato was four, and Lovato has embraced Eddie De La Garza, her stepfather, as "Dad." In 2011, Lovato released her album Unbroken, with the track "For the Love of a Daughter." The song chronicles her difficult relationship with her father.
Most recently, she learned of an older half-sister she didn't know she had. She revealed the news on the Dana & Jeffrey in the Morning show.
“I have an older sister that I've never known my whole life. She's in her 30s. She's my half-sister,” she shared, “I talked to her for the very first time in my life around when I turned 20.”
See what Demi's mother Dianna De La Garza said on Twitter about the passing of Demi's father after the jump.
Lovato also has a younger half-sister, Madison De La Garza.
Demi's mother, Dianna De La Garza, took to Twitter after the news broke and wrote, "Thank you all for the outpouring of love and prayers. Y’all are amazing!” With an image of her two daughters, Dallas and Demi, with their father.
