Uh-Oh! Looks like Wiz Khalifa has gotten himself in hot water with the mayor of Colombia.
During his visit to Medellin for a performance, the 29-year-old rapper sparked some controversy when he visited the grave of notorious drug kingpin, Pablo Escobar.
The singer took to Instagram to share a series of pictures paying respect to Escobar with fresh flowers, all while smoking what appears to be a marijuana joint.
The picture, which has since been deleted, caused fury among the Colombian people, including the mayor of Medellin. In an interview with the local media, Mayor Federico Gutierrez referred to Khalifa as a “scoundrel” and pointed out that "instead of bringing flowers to Pablo Escobar, [Khalifa] should have brought flowers to the victims of violence in this city."
Aside from demanding an apology from the rapper, the mayor of Medellin made it clear the rapper was “not welcomed” back to city. He also added, "it shows that this guy has never had to suffer from the violence inflicted by these drug traffickers."
Pablo Escobar and his cartel were responsible for some 4,000 deaths, including 107 from the bombing of Avianca's flight 203 in 1989.
The singer has yet to comment on the incident.
