Last fall, Bellarinas all over were heartbroken when Bella Thorne only dropped an EP and not a full-length album. The Cubana recently opened up in an interview about why she decided to scrap her debut album.
"The reason why the album did not come out is because... look, I never wanted to really be an amazing singer," she said. "Honestly, I was tone deaf when I first got on the [Disney] Channel. I literally auditioned for Shake It Up! and I was like, 'I don't sing and I don't dance. I have no idea why I'm here.'"
Thorned continued, "Then Disney, we started this whole singing process and I signed this contract with Hollywood Records and I told them I wouldn't put out my album until my voice was good, until I worked on it, because there's no way I'm putting out...auto-tuned bad music. My father always told me, if you're going to do something, you better not do it [if you don't do it well]. You have to be the best at what you do."
The actress wasn't happy with the "auto-tuned bad music" she was recording and decided to cut songs from the album, turning it into a five-track EP named Jersey.
"I asked if I could re-record them and they were like, 'No [because] we don't have the budget for that' and so I ended up cutting eight/nine songs from the album and turned it into an EP..."
Although Thorne did not drop the full-length album, her EP was a strong debut. Who knows maybe one day the young star will reconsider singing again.
