"The reason why the album did not come out is because... look, I never wanted to really be an amazing singer," she said. "Honestly, I was tone deaf when I first got on the [Disney] Channel. I literally auditioned for Shake It Up! and I was like, 'I don't sing and I don't dance. I have no idea why I'm here.'"

Thorned continued, "Then Disney, we started this whole singing process and I signed this contract with Hollywood Records and I told them I wouldn't put out my album until my voice was good, until I worked on it, because there's no way I'm putting bad music. My father always told me, if you're going to do something, you better not do it [if you don't do it well]. You have to be the best at what you do."

The actress wasn't happy with the "auto-tuned bad music" she was recording and decided to cut songs from the album, turning it into a five-track EP named Jersey.

"I asked if I could re-record them and they were like, 'No [because] we don't have the budget for that' and so I ended up cutting eight/nine songs from the album and turned it into an EP..."

Although Thorne did not drop the full-length album, her EP was a strong debut. Who knows maybe one day the young star will reconsider singing again.
