WATCH: Victoria Justice Speaks Up for Girls in Need

Victoria Justice stopped by our offices the other day and we were thoroughly impressed by the 17-year-old's poise and beauty. Justice has been hard at work writing songs for her upcoming debut album and shooting a new film with Brooke Shields—but she was in NYC for United Nations Week to talk about some very serious global issues.

Justice was in town to help promote her recent partnership with Girl Up, a project of the United Nations Foundation that mobilizes American girls to raise awareness and funds for young women in developing countries. Did you know that some girls spend close to 15 hours each day obtaining water for their families and villages? We didn't either, at least not until Victoria told us!

About this author

Mariela Rosario,

I'm a raging opinionista and I love to share my ramblings on everything from pop culture to food to stuff that makes me laugh & cry! I've worked in all types of media (TV, film, print) and was previously the online editor at Latina magazine before joining Mamás Latinas. On most nights you can find me working my way through my library of cookbooks or playing with my puppy Lola (my only child so far). I have a wonderful hubby who shares my passion for any and all kinds of travel. Together, we've formed a semi-professional wine drinking team.
