Video: Sofia Vergara's "Modern Family" Costar Trashes her on "Chelsea Lately"

Sofia Vergara's Modern Family costar Julie Bowen paid a visit to Chelsea Handler's late night E! television show and spent more time talking smack about Vergara than she did talking about herself.

At first we were unsure what to think about the whole, seemingly tongue-in-cheek interview. But the references to Vergara as "Cholo Barbie" and the way that they repeatedly made fun of her accent made it increasingly apparent that a serious line had been crossed. Bowen completely eviscerates Vergara about everything from being materialistic to being a total airhead. When I saw this, at first I thought they were both bashing Sofia to an extent that made them look petty and jealous. But I began to suspect it might be a put-on.

At any rate, Julie Bowen has confirmed it was all a joke on twitter. I'd post a link, but you can find her on twitter in seconds. Even so, the racial comments are objectionable.
For the record: I'm a north-of-the-border caucasian who'd DEFINITELY come out of the woodwork if Ms Vergara were anywhere nearby.

Oh my goodness! Talk about being a hater! Julie Bowen was just trash talking the whole time and made a total a@@ out of herself! Jealousy is very ugly. Thank goodness Sofia will never have to feel or look like that! And what's with it turning into a race matter? Saying all Hispanics are in the kitchen cooking or cleaning? That is just so racist. What did that have to do with anything!!???

I think its funny that they both agree that there is absolutely nothing interesting enough about Julie Bowen to fill a while interview slot so that they must talk about Sofia Vergara instead. Chola barbie? The only thing that does is remind us that she looks like a barbie and you dont. Also, you can be jealous if she goes out to dinner and heads pop out to see her and not you but you really dont need to comment on "all the hispanic men in the kitchen" and washing dishes. That just proves that you are ignorant. Do you notice how the host tries to move on and talk about the show and Julie Bowen jumps right back on the subject of Sofia? This is a classic case of insecurity. I hope she realizes that by trying to bring Sofia down to bring herself up, she only shows the world that she envies her and cant compete. Maybe one day she'll learn to be ok with herself so when she goes to an interview she'll actually have something to say and won't need to bash other people.

Envy is such an ugly trait. I'm sure Sophia has to be used to woman talking crap about her all the time - us beautiful latina women have to always deal with women like this. I can't say I'm shocked.

Wow. Those 2 really have the same sense of humor. But what could you expect, that whole show is nothing but making fun of other shows and people. Regardless, they were both out of line and if anything, all it did was gain more publicity for Sofia. The whole conversation was about her.

This lady is was way out of line with the kind of things she was saying... not to mention that she said Cholo insted of Chola but the kind of things she was saying was beyond hurtful...then she tried to make things better by bringing in Chuey to the conversation

OH MY GOD... I cannot believe this. I can't believe someone would just trash someone else in this way--all because of jealousy because, yup, she does look better and is funny as hell and has a way better role than her. Good for Sofia. And it's not like Sofia doesn't know her name, she just pronounced it with an accent, what's wrong with that? I'm still in awe, and just need to write to someone at ABC about this...

I can't believe how awful and mean she was. Honestly, she sounded like a hater. But I feel that when people make fun of something it opens doors for others to do so. So when comedians like Carlos Mencia and others are constantly making fun of all things Latino, this is what we get; two caucasians women calling Sofia Vergara "Chola Barbie" and then saying that the only Latinos working in restaurants are in the kitchen or bussing tables. wtf, why aren't more people upset about this.
