Update: LeAnn Rimes on Eddie Cibrian: "It's Not True that We're Engaged."

Cuban actor Eddie Cibrian is making a (sort of) honest woman out of Leann Rimes. Though the scandalous duo teased fans earlier this week by tweeting a faux proposal photo from a Halloween haunted house, E! News is confirming that Cibrian did in fact ask the country singer to marry him.
Rimes, 28, appeared on an ABC News special hosted by Robin Roberts in an interview that aired yesterday and spoke openly about the relationship and the end of her previous marriage. Cibrian, 39, cheated on his wife of eight years and the mother of his two children when he met Rimes on the set of the Lifetime movie, Northern Lights.
"You had two couples whose marriages didn't work who really stumbled upon each other and fell in love," Rimes explained. "Nothing I'm going to say is going to change it, I do know that, and I have accepted that…but I do know how much I love him," she continued. "What happened is not who I am, period. So I've always said I don't live my life with regret. I can't."
Rimes and Cibrian denied their adulterous affair for months until both eventually filed for divorce from their respective spouses. They went public as a couple in the summer of 2009.
This afternoon, Rimes tweeted a long statement where the singer flat out denies that she and Cibrian are engaged."I've about had it with the lack of "reporting' with E News," writes the country singer. "The fact that our "engagement" has spread so furiously over the past 24 hours off of an E News article that is 150% untrue just shows you the lack credible "sources" they seem to find and build a story around."
Adds the singer: "Even though this is positive "news" it's not true."
Although they're not engaged, Rimes says things between her and Cibrian couldn't be better. "Eddie and I are beyond happy and in love and look forward to one day sharing such private news with you all and hopefully will be able to enjoy it privately and share it with our family and friends before the world knows," writes Rimes.
A few hours later, Rimes wrote another tweet explaining why she felt compelled to address the rumor.
"I felt the need to tell my fans because we've been overwhelmed with the amount of congrats tweets. Even friends were fooled, LOL," she writes. "Eddie and I felt we couldn't let this rumor go on any longer."
