Now: The 46-year-old Salvadoran beauty is busy with her organization, Every Mother Counts.

2. Cindy Crawford

Cindy Crawford

Then: Crawford was awarded an academic scholarship to study chemical engineering at Northwestern University, but she dropped out after less than a year to pursue modeling full-time.

Now: The 48-year-old quit her full-time modeling career in 2000 but returned again in 2011, appearing on the cover of VOGUE Mexico.

3. Christie Brinkley

Christie Brinkley

Then: Brinkley gained worldwide notoriety in the late 1970s, after landing three consecutive Sports illustrated Swimsuit Issue covers.

Now: She recently launched a skincare collection with HSN.

4. Tyra Banks

Tyra Banks

Then: Banks began modeling in 1991, and her career really took off after she appeared on the cover of Sports Illustrated Swimsuit.

Now: The 41-year-old TV talk show host is currently working with ABC to develop a lifestyle syndicated talk show.

5. Beverly Johnson

Beverly Johnson

Then: In 1974, Johnson became the first African-American model to appear on the cover of VOGUE.

Now: The 62-year-old New York native released her first memoir in 2013, and currently runs Beverly Johnson's Hair Extensions.

6. Yamila Diaz

Yamila Diaz

Then: The Argentine belleza was discovered by a scout from a Milan modeling agency while she was vacationing in Uruguay in 1996. She later became CoverGirl's first Latina spokesmodel.

Now: At 38, Diaz is still busy strutting her stuff on the pages of magazines such as Sports Illustrated.

7. Helena Christensen

Helena Christensen

Then: After representing Denmark in the Miss Universe competition in 1986, Christensen left home to puruse her modeling career in Paris.

Now: The 46-year-old Danish and Peruvian has since evolved into an independent entrepreneur and talented photographer.

8. Naomi Campbell

Naomi Campbell

Then: Campbell was only 15 when she kicked-off her career in the modeling industry. She quickly became one of the most recognizable and in-demand models of the late '80s and '90s.

Now: At 44, the model has written a novel, judged reality competitions, released a studio album, and has made appearances in several films.
