Colombian actress Sofia Vergara was selected by prestigious entertainment magazine Variety as one of the 50 Women Changing Hollywood.

Vergara has had a banner year, with a hit TV show (Modern Family), a Emmy nod and a role in the blockbuster film adaptation of The Smurfs. She is joined by Diane Lane, Jennifer Garner, Eva Mendes and Amy Adams in receiving this special distinction—but Vergara was selected for the cover. Vergara is currently the only women in Hollywood who began her career in Spanish language television on Univision before crossing over in a major way with Modern Family.

"The goal for Variety is to celebrate powerful women in entertainment who have made a significant contribution. They have changed the perceptions of the business and have re-written the path to success. These women serve as encouraging high-profile inspiration to all people of different social classes." The glossy honored the women at the 2nd annual Power of Women luncheon held in Beverly Hills, California.

Mariela Rosario,

I'm a raging opinionista and I love to share my ramblings on everything from pop culture to food to stuff that makes me laugh & cry! I've worked in all types of media (TV, film, print) and was previously the online editor at Latina magazine before joining Mamás Latinas. On most nights you can find me working my way through my library of cookbooks or playing with my puppy Lola (my only child so far). I have a wonderful hubby who shares my passion for any and all kinds of travel. Together, we've formed a semi-professional wine drinking team.
