"So You Think You Can Dance" Choreographer Alex Da Silva Arrested for Sexual Assault

Alex Da Silva, a salsa instructor best known for his role as a guest choreographer on the reality dance competition So You Think You Can Dance, was arrested this weekend on charges of sexual assault. The Los Angeles Police Department says Da Silva stands accused of assaulting four women, all of whom were his students, at his homes in the San Fernando Valley.

"The victims allege that he lured them to his homes in North Hollywood
and Van Nuys," read a statement by the LAPD. "He then used a ruse to get them
into his bedroom, where he raped them." The assaults allegedly occurred between May 2003 to March 28, 2009.

Da Silva, who won the World Salsa Championships in 2002 and 2007 and is widely known throughout the salsa and dance communities, is currently being held with bail set at $3.8 million.

The LAPD has released a photo of Da Silva because it is believed that there may be additional victims. Anyone with information about another possible assault involving Da Silva should call Van Nuys Sexual Assault Detectives at (818) 374-1926 or 1-877-527-3247.
